Evacuation plan ready for Thais in Japan: Thai Foreign Minister

BANGKOK, March 17 — A plan has been prepared to evacuate Thai citizens from Japan in the wake of last week’s devastating earthquake, massive tsunami and a series of explosions at the earthquake-hit Fukushima nuclear power complex in Japan, according to Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs Kasit Piromya.

Mr Kasit said that the Thai embassy in Tokyo and the Thai Consulate-General in Osaka have jointly arranged an evacuation plan for Thais who want to leave Japan and return to Thailand.

He said the officials coordinated and attended a press briefing from the Japanese authorities and would follow the advisory issued by the Japanese government.
