Bangkok traffic policeman hit by taxi, run over

A traffic policeman was hit by one taxi and run over by another in an accident on Asoke-Ratchada road in Watthana district of Bangkok early Tuesday morning.

Police colleagues said Pol Sr Sgt-Maj Nathapong Sangkhadit, 54, of Traffic Police Division 2, was on traffic duty in front of the prime minister’s house, which is nearby, and was on his way to buy food. He had intended to return to his post. His shift was due to end at 6am.

The accident happened about 5am. The policeman died on the spot.
