Thai PM: Fresh elections will take place only when there is peace in the country

BANGKOK, 31 October 2010 (NNT) – Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva did not say whether a general election will be held early or late next year.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said in his “Confidence in Thailand with PM Abhisit” weekly programme that the fresh election would be held only after peace had been restored in the country.

When asked about the progress of the reconciliation plan, Mr Abhisit said significant progress had been made. Independent bodies were still working according to the original plan. He also asserted that reports pertaining to the constitution amendment would have been concluded by the end of this year.
