Flood situation in Chiang Rai remains unimproved

CHIANG RAI, 27 August 2010 (NNT) – The flood situation in the northern province of Chiang Rai remains unimproved on account of continuous rainfall in the area.

The flood situation in Phaya Mengrai district of the province reportedly remains a cause for concern because the area is still under the influence of heavy rainfall. Over 2,000 households and more than 1,000 rai of farmland in the district have been ravaged by the disaster.

The officers from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation are now expediting the flood rescue operation. More help is on the way.
