Thailand’s red shirts block traffic as tension mounts

Thailand’s red shirt protesters have vowed to step up their campaign for new elections after a peace overture to the government was rejected.

Hundreds blocked traffic trying to get into Bangkok amid fears police reinforcements were being sent to the capital to clear areas occupied by activists.

Although a failed attempt to eject red shirts this month led to clashes that killed 25 people, Thailand’s Prime Minister is talking tough.
