Multi-coloureds now plan mass rally next week

While the red-shirted protesters have been bunkering down, the government yesterday came under more heat from other pressure groups, with the multicoloured shirts threatening to stage a mass rally on Friday and the yellow shirts planning their next move tomorrow.

Dr Tul Sitthisomwong, a leader of the anti-red-shirt group, said yesterday that the multihued shirts would hold protests at two sites on April 30 if the government cannot clearly show how it will restore peace in the country.

The two sites would be determined later after considering the government’s situation and opinions from demonstrators, he said.

Suriyasai Katasila, a spokesman for the yellow-shirt People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) said that after the seven-day ultimatum the PAD gave to the government runs out tomorrow, PAD leaders would hold a meeting again in the morning to discuss how they would proceed before revealing the plan publicly.

However, the yellow shirts in the provinces have prepared to move out immediately after the official announcement is issued on Monday, he said.
