Two soldiers wounded in grenade attack on Thai military base as thousands stage anti-government demonstrations

Two soldiers were wounded after three grenades exploded at a Thai military base during massive anti-government protests in central Bangkok this morning.

Thousands of red-shirted supporters of former premier Thaksin Shinawatra have staged rallies at several barracks in the city over the last three days.

The protesters had given Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva an ultimatum to dissolve parliament by midday today or face mass street demonstrations.

One of the soldiers was injured in the abdomen and the other was wounded in the arm after the grenades were fired into the military compound from a nearby residential area by an M79 grenade launcher.
