Pregnant Thai woman detained for smuggling cocaine

Kuala Lumpur – Malaysian police have detained a Thai woman for allegedly attempting to smuggle out more two kilogrammes of cocaine valued at 1.7 million ringgit (459,460 dollars), official news reports said Tuesday. The 22-year-old suspect, who is two months pregnant, was detained Friday at a bus stop, after she had boarded a bus headed for the southern Thai city of Haatyai, Bernama news agency said.

Police discovered she had hidden the drugs in two photo frames, which were packed with her clothes, said Kuala Lumpur narcotics chief Kang Chez Chiang.
