Sailing enthusiasts will want to visit Samui at the moment to take part in the 8th Sawadee Regatta Samui. Held from May 31–June 6, this is billed as being “the biggest regatta and lifestyle event on the island” to date.
“I’m confident that not only will this be the biggest regatta and lifestyle event on the island to date but that it will change the way other sporting events in Thailand give back to the community,” chairman regatta Callum Laing was quoted by the Samui Express recently. “It was clear to me that this leading Samui international regatta would provide a platform not only for philanthropy but also for giving back to the Samui community that has helped it to become one of Asia’s top sports and lifestyle events.”
During the festival numerous events will take place on Chaweng Beach for visitors to take part in such as the “Samui Junior Sailing Squadron Challenge”, where local children can compete in yacht racing. The 8th Sawadee Regatta Samui is expected to raise several millions of baht for charity and the Thai community.
