Pakistani National Detained After Fatal Hit-and-Run of Elderly Woman in Bangkok
BANGKOK – A tragic incident at a zebra crossing in Bangkok’s Rat Burana district has resulted in the death of an 80-year-old Thai woman after she was struck by a motorcycle ridden by a Pakistani national on November 26. The collision took place on Pracha Uthit Road, near Soi Pracha Uthit 4, when the motorcyclist, identified as 21-year-old Vichan, failed to stop for the pedestrian.

The victim, Amnuay, sustained severe injuries from the impact and was later pronounced dead at Suksawat Hospital. The motorcycle involved was a black and red Zongshen Ryuka. In his initial statement to authorities, Vichan claimed that he was unable to stop in time due to the presence of several pedestrians on the road and denied allegations of speeding.
However, eyewitnesses at the scene have directly contradicted his account. They reported that the motorcyclist was traveling at high speed and made no attempt to brake before hitting the elderly woman. Witness Nopparat Duangsi, 28, stated that the force of the collision was so powerful that Amnuay’s body was thrown more than 20 meters. Another witness, Kanokphan Somjai, 34, confirmed that all other vehicles had come to a stop to allow the woman to cross, but Vichan proceeded without slowing down.
