Flooding Claims Three Lives Across 12 Thai Provinces
BANGKOK — Overflowing rivers triggered widespread flooding across 12 provinces in Thailand’s North, Central Plain, and East regions on Tuesday, resulting in three fatalities and affecting approximately 161,000 residents, according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation.
Heavy Flooding Paralyzes Samut Prakan and Pattaya, Teenager Electrocuted
The northern provinces of Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Phichit, and Nakhon Sawan experienced varying flood conditions. In Phitsanulok’s Bang Rakam and Wang Thong districts, water levels continued to rise, while flooding receded in Phetchabun’s Nong Phai and Sri Thep districts. Phichit and Nakhon Sawan reported stable or retreating waters across multiple districts.
In the Central Plain, seven provinces—Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Suphan Buri, Ayutthaya, and Nakhon Pathom—faced significant inundation. Ayutthaya remained critically affected with rising flood levels, particularly in Sena, Phak Hai, and Bang Ban districts. The eastern province of Chachoengsao also reported flooding in Muang and Bang Nam Prieo districts, though waters were receding.

Tragically, three drownings were confirmed: a 17-year-old girl in Phichit’s Sam Ngam district swept away while riding a motorcycle, a 19-year-old man in Phetchabun who fell from a boat, and a resident in Ayutthaya who drowned while relocating belongings beneath his elevated home.
