School Bus Overturns in Roi Et, Injuring 16

ROI ET – A six-wheel truck transporting students overturned on a main road in Roi Et province on Monday afternoon, injuring 16 people, including 14 schoolchildren. The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. on the Phanom Phrai–Maha Chana Chai road in Ban Thai Sombun village, Phanom Phrai district.

Upon arrival, police and rescue teams found the vehicle flipped onto its roof with visible smoke, though no fire was reported. Two injured passengers were trapped under the truck and had to be extricated by emergency personnel from Wat Klang Udomvej rescue foundation and Phanom Phrai Hospital.

All 16 injured individuals—14 students from primary and secondary levels and two adults—were transported to Phanom Phrai Hospital for treatment. No fatalities have been reported.

Images of the crash, shared on social media, showed the overturned vehicle emitting smoke, highlighting the severity of the accident on the busy route often used by school transport.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash, including examining the condition of the vehicle, road factors, and driver-related circumstances. Authorities plan to interview the driver and witnesses once initial medical responses are complete.

The accident has renewed concerns over the safety of student transportation in rural areas, where modified trucks are commonly used to ferry children to and from school. Local officials are expected to review transport safety regulations and compliance in the wake of the incident.
