According to Royal Thai Army spokesman Maj Gen Winthai Suvaree, Cambodian forces began firing at targets in the Chong An Ma area of Nam Yuen district, Ubon Ratchathani, starting at 5:05 a.m. By 7 a.m., it was confirmed that one Thai soldier had been killed and four others wounded in the Chong Bok area of the same district. The attacks expanded to include the Huai Ta Maria area in Si Sa Ket, as well as the Khana, Ta Khwai, and Ta Muen areas in Surin province. Monday’s violence follows an attack in Si Sa Ket on Sunday afternoon that left two Thai soldiers wounded and prompted the evacuation of over 385,000 residents from high-risk border areas across four northeastern provinces. Cambodian military activity intensified overnight, with reports of tank deployments in Oddar Meanchey province, the positioning of rocket launchers in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey, and the targeting of locations deep inside Thailand, including Buri Ram Airport and Prasat Hospital in Surin.

Thai Air Force spokesman AM Jackrit Thammavichai stated that Thai fighter jets were deployed to halt Cambodian military operations that threatened Thai security and civilians. He emphasized that the airstrikes were limited to military targets and conducted in self-defense, adhering to principles of necessity and proportionality.
