Thai Navy Responds to Renewed Cambodian Incursion in Trat

The Royal Thai Navy has launched a military response following confirmed reports of renewed Cambodian military activity inside Thai territory near Ban Nong Ri in Chamrak subdistrict, Trat province. Thai authorities reported that Cambodian troops had re-entered the area, constructed a new operational base, and reinforced their position with heavy weapons and specialized units.

Thai Military Launches Operation Against Cambodian Troops Encroaching On Sa Kaeo

Reconnaissance confirmed trench digging, sniper placement, and drone surveillance over Thai airspace. The exact location had previously been cleared of three Cambodian military structures, with troops having withdrawn after Thai intervention. Thai defense officials have classified the re-entry and escalation by Cambodian forces as a direct threat to national sovereignty.

The Royal Thai Navy stated that Thailand exhausted all diplomatic and procedural channels before taking action. Measures included formal warnings, military-to-military discussions, and repeated requests for the Cambodian forces to withdraw peacefully. Those efforts did not de-escalate, prompting Thai forces to act in self-defense, as permitted under international law.

Rear Admiral Parat Rattanachaiphan, the Navy’s spokesperson, said the operation is being conducted under close supervision by the Military Command Center. Force is being used in a controlled and proportionate manner, with the primary goal of containing the threat and preventing harm to civilians in the area.
