Bus Collides with Lorry in Phetchaburi, Leaving Multiple Injured and Causing Major Pile-Up

PHETCHABURI – A serious traffic accident involving a passenger bus and a 10-wheel lorry on Phetkasem Road in Phetchaburi province has left more than ten people injured and caused significant disruption on a major route into Bangkok. The crash occurred in the early hours of December 26, 2025, and triggered a secondary multi-vehicle collision.

Police reported the incident took place around 5:30 a.m. at kilometer marker 162+425 in Tambon Tham Rong, Ban Lat district. A tour bus traveling toward Bangkok slammed into the rear of a sand-laden lorry. The impact was severe, throwing one bus passenger through a window onto the road, resulting in serious injuries. Emergency services, including teams from Maharaj Phetcharat Hospital, Bangkok Hospital Phetchaburi, and the Sawang Sanphet Thammasathan rescue foundation, responded swiftly to treat and evacuate the injured.

At the scene, the front of the blue-and-white Bangkok-registered bus was heavily damaged. Ten passengers were reported injured. The lorry, registered in Chumphon, was found overturned on the roadside with its cargo of sandbags spilled. The lorry driver, 54-year-old Mr. Nik, sustained minor injuries and stated the bus struck his vehicle from behind at high speed, causing it to roll over.

The initial crash led to a secondary pile-up approximately 100 meters ahead, involving three more lorries, two cars, and a state-operated intercity minibus. The chain-reaction collision created a traffic backlog stretching several kilometers. Traffic police diverted vehicles onto service roads while cleanup operations continued, causing major delays on the key highway during the morning commute.
