PHUKET – An Australian tourist has died following a tragic accident in Phuket after he reportedly ran through a glass door at a restaurant in the Karon area. Police were alerted to the incident around 10:30 p.m. on December 11.

Officers arriving at the scene found a shattered glass door and a significant amount of blood. The man was rushed to Chalong Hospital but succumbed to severe blood loss from his injuries. His identity has not yet been released as authorities continue their investigation and work to notify his family.

Surveillance footage from the restaurant showed the man entering alone and exhibiting unusual, disoriented behavior, including frequent nodding of his head, which caused other diners to move away. Staff attempted to approach him, but he suddenly ran at full speed into the glass door, breaking it and collapsing outside.

Emergency services transported him to the hospital, where he was treated for a severe leg laceration caused by the broken glass. Police are now reviewing the CCTV footage, interviewing staff and witnesses, and coordinating with restaurant management as part of their investigation into the circumstances leading to the fatal incident.
