Amulet Trader Arrested After Deadly Shooting at Nakhon Pathom Concert Restaurant

NKHON PATHOM – A 32-year-old amulet trader has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting at a popular restaurant and concert venue in Nakhon Chai Si district, Nakhon Pathom, that left two people dead and three others injured. Police Region 7 detained Jirathiwat Wiri­yaworakun, the son of a village headman in Don Tum, within hours of the attack, seizing a 9mm automatic handgun and a white Isuzu D-Max pickup truck used in the incident.

One Dead, Two Injured in Flea Market Shooting in Samut Prakan

The shooting occurred shortly after midnight on December 5 at the “Lung Toy Hoi Kha” restaurant in Wat Lamud, where a ticketed concert had drawn more than 150 attendees. Following the final musical performance, an argument broke out between two groups of youths, escalating into a physical fight as staff were dismantling sound equipment.

Witnesses reported that a man in a brown shirt approached to within about 10 meters of the altercation, shouted, “Who hurt my brother?” and then opened fire into the crowd. The gunshots caused multiple casualties and triggered panic, with concertgoers fleeing in disorder.

Police confirmed that five individuals were struck by gunfire. Two victims, 43-year-old Thanes Sinterattana and 31-year-old Sarawut Suanlong, later died in separate hospitals. The three injured—Thanakrit Songubon, 32; Kesinee Kloisawat, 27; and Phakphong Kloisawat, 25—were treated for their wounds.

Following a swift manhunt, authorities apprehended Jirathiwat before dawn. During questioning, he reportedly admitted to the shooting, stating he acted out of anger after believing a younger acquaintance was being assaulted. He now faces multiple charges, including murder, attempted murder, unauthorized possession of a firearm in public, and discharging a weapon in a public place. The case is proceeding through the formal legal process.
