Five Hospitalized After Suspected Food Poisoning from Pork Meal in Samut Prakan

SAMUT PRAKAN – Five individuals, including a young girl, were rushed to the hospital after collapsing unconscious on a road in Samut Prakan late on October 25, 2025. Emergency responders from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation provided critical first aid at the scene before transporting all five patients for immediate medical treatment.

20 students in Samut Prakan sent to hospital with suspected food poisoning

The incident occurred shortly after the group shared a meal of pork cooked on a mu kratha grill. The pork had been purchased from a local market earlier in the day. According to witnesses, the young girl was the first to show severe symptoms, experiencing sudden dizziness, vomiting, and extreme fatigue before collapsing. The other members of the group rapidly developed similar symptoms and lost consciousness nearby.

Authorities are currently investigating the possibility that the pork may have been mixed with jellyfish, a known culinary ingredient that can cause severe allergic reactions or food poisoning if improperly prepared or if toxic varieties are consumed. The victims exhibited characteristic symptoms including nausea, vomiting, and breathing difficulties. Medical experts note that while some jellyfish species are edible, improper preparation can lead to dangerous physiological reactions requiring urgent medical intervention.

Health officials have begun collecting food samples from the meal and are conducting interviews with those involved to determine the precise cause of the poisoning. The public is being advised to exercise particular caution when purchasing and preparing food from local markets, especially when dealing with unfamiliar ingredients. Emergency services emphasize that anyone experiencing similar symptoms should seek immediate medical attention, as respiratory complications from food poisoning can rapidly become life-threatening.
