Thailand Unveils Indigenous Kamikaze Drones in Major Military Advancement

Bangkok, July 5, 2025 – The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) has officially unveiled its first domestically developed “Kamikaze UAV,” a state-of-the-art loitering munition system capable of precision strikes, marking a significant leap in the country’s defense technology.

Royal Thai Air Force Gears Up for Spectacular Air Show

The suicide drone, entirely designed and tested by Thai engineers, recently completed successful trials, demonstrating its ability to destroy medium-range targets with an accuracy of under five meters using its high-explosive warhead. The achievement underscores Thailand’s growing self-reliance in advanced military systems.

Developed through a collaboration between the Navaminda Kasatriyadhiraj Royal Thai Air Force Academy, the Aerospace Science and Technology Research and Development Centre, and the RTAF Ordnance Department, the Kamikaze UAV program has now transitioned into serial production.

Air Force officials emphasized that the new drone enhances Thailand’s ability to safeguard territorial integrity and national security. The loitering munition—which can hover over a target area before striking with precision—represents a strategic addition to the country’s defense arsenal, reducing reliance on foreign-supplied weaponry.
