Russian Man Arrested at Phuket Airport for Alleged Cyber Fraud

PHUKET — A 36-year-old Russian national was arrested at Phuket International Airport this week in connection with alleged involvement in cybercrime and public fraud, according to Thai immigration authorities.

The arrest took place at the international arrivals terminal, where officers from Phuket Immigration detained the suspect upon arrival. He was wanted on multiple charges related to violations of Thailand’s Computer Crimes Act and electronic banking laws.

Officials stated that the man is accused of supporting fraudulent online operations that misled members of the public. Investigators allege that he facilitated illegal access to financial accounts without lawful authorization or intent, pointing to a broader pattern of cyber-related deception.

After being taken into custody, the suspect was transferred to the local police station for formal interrogation and legal processing. Authorities have not disclosed whether the man was acting alone or as part of a larger network but confirmed that the case involves serious electronic transactions offenses.
