PHUKET – In a crackdown on illegal foreign labor, Patong Police arrested six individuals, including five Myanmar nationals and one Moroccan citizen, for working without proper permits at a popular tourist-area restaurant.

The raid took place on Tuesday May 13th, at an establishment on Thaweewong Road, a bustling strip near Patong Beach known for its high concentration of tourist-oriented businesses. Authorities confirmed that all six suspects were found working in violation of Thai labor laws, lacking the necessary work permits.

Following the operation, the individuals were taken into custody and transferred to Patong Police investigators for further legal action. The arrests are part of an ongoing effort by local law enforcement to regulate foreign labor and ensure compliance with immigration and employment regulations.

Police have not disclosed the name of the restaurant or the specific roles the workers were performing. However, the case highlights increased scrutiny on businesses hiring foreign workers without proper documentation, particularly in tourist-heavy areas like Patong.

Under Thai law, foreigners working without authorization face fines, deportation, and potential blacklisting, while employers may also be penalized for hiring undocumented workers. Authorities have urged businesses to verify work permits and comply with labor regulations to avoid legal consequences.
