Durian is becoming a favourite fruit among local residents and visiting tourists in Chiang Mai with the city adminstration reporting durian shell waste forming half of wastes collected from fresh markets in town.

The deputy mayor of Chiang Mai City Adminstration Mr Chattre Chuamanocharn said a huge waste of 4-5 tons a day of durian shells were collected from markets.
