Chinese Woman Bound, Robbed, and Left in Crashed Mercedes in Pattaya

PATTAYA – A Chinese woman was found bound with adhesive tape inside her crashed Mercedes-Benz early Monday morning after being lured to a housing estate and robbed. Police responded to a call at the Zensiri housing estate in tambon Nong Prue around 1 a.m., where they discovered the 35-year-old victim, Yang Wang, blindfolded and restrained behind the front seats of her vehicle.

Ms. Yang told police she had met a Chinese man named Gong Gaopeng, 30, through the WeChat platform. He had promised to show her a house for sale, and she picked him up on Sukhumvit Pattaya 59 Road around 7:37 p.m. on Sunday. After viewing a property in the housing estate, she agreed to purchase it.

As she was driving out of the estate, the man, seated behind her, threatened her with a pair of scissors pressed against her waist and ordered her to drive to the rear of the complex. There, he bound her with adhesive tape, took her mobile phone, forced her to provide her password, and transferred 6,996 yuan (approximately 31,469 baht) from her WeChat account to his.

Two Chinese Nationals Arrested in Pattaya for Online Scams and Kidnapping Case

During the robbery, another individual approached and told them they could not park in the area. The suspect then moved to the driver’s seat and attempted to speed away but crashed into a fence. He fled the scene on foot, leaving Ms. Yang trapped inside the vehicle.

Police are continuing their investigation and are searching for the suspect.
