Three Thai Soldiers Killed Reclaiming Border Villages in Sa Kaeo
SA KAEO – Three Thai soldiers were killed during military operations to retake full control of Ban Nong Chan in Sa Kaeo province from Cambodian forces, the First Army Region announced. The fallen soldiers have been identified as Sergeant Major Pongsakorn Narkthongdee, Private Patiphat Sornpradit, and Private Thiewtawan Pholyiem, all from the 2nd Infantry Battalion of the 2nd Infantry Regiment of the Royal Guards.

The First Army Region expressed its condolences to the families of the soldiers, praised their sacrifice in defense of the nation, and pledged honorable funerals and full compensation for their next of kin. According to the military, Thai troops have now established full control over Ban Nong Chan and Ban Nong Ya Kaeo in Khok Sung district, as well as Ban Klong Phaeng in Ta Phraya district, after driving out the last pockets of Cambodian resistance.

Despite the territorial gains, the army reported that Cambodian forces continue to shell the three villages with artillery, mortars, and BM-21 rockets in attempts to regain a foothold. The situation remains volatile as hostilities persist along the contested border.
