Fatal Crash Involving Russian Tourists Kills Sidecar Rider in Kanchanaburi
KANCHANABURI – A multi-vehicle collision in Kanchanaburi province has left one man dead and three people injured after a motorcycle carrying Russian tourists skidded and struck a sidecar motorcycle, causing a chain-reaction crash. The incident occurred on December 19 in the Chong Krabok area of Sai Yok district.

According to the Kanchanaburi Rescue Foundation, emergency teams responded to the scene at kilometer marker 162, where they found one fatality and three injured individuals. The deceased was identified as a 50-year-old man driving the sidecar motorcycle, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The injured included a 60-year-old Thai man who sustained a head laceration and body abrasions, and two Russian tourists—a woman and a man, both aged approximately 25–30—who suffered various abrasions. All three were given first aid before being transported to Phra Piyamaharaj Hospital for treatment.
Police reviewing CCTV footage reported that the motorcycle carrying the Russian tourists lost control and fell, grazing the sidecar. This impact caused the sidecar to veer into the opposite lane, where it was struck at high speed by an oncoming pickup truck, resulting in the sidecar driver’s fatal injuries.
Authorities from Sai Yok Police Station have transferred the deceased’s body to the hospital for a post-mortem examination. Following the procedure, the body was released to relatives for funeral rites at Wat Tha Thung Na.
