Thailand Files Ceasefire Violation Reports to Malaysia, US, and China

BANGKOK — Thailand has formally submitted detailed reports to Malaysia, the United States, and China documenting alleged Cambodian breaches of the recently brokered ceasefire agreement, Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampong announced Tuesday. The move comes as border tensions persist despite Monday’s high-level truce negotiations.

Thai and Cambodian Military Commanders Reach Agreement to Enforce Ceasefire

Diplomatic Notifications Delivered

The documentation, outlining what Thailand characterizes as Cambodian attacks occurring between the ceasefire’s midnight commencement on July 28 and 10 a.m. Tuesday, was transmitted through diplomatic channels to:

  • Malaysia: Addressed to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim through Foreign Minister Mohamad Hazan, recognizing Malaysia’s role as ASEAN chair and mediator

  • United States: Submitted to Secretary of State Marco Rubio

  • China: Delivered to Foreign Minister Wang Yi

Both American and Chinese ambassadors to Malaysia had witnessed Monday’s peace talks.

Military Given Operational Discretion

Following Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting, Government Spokesman Jirayu Huangsub revealed that Thailand’s military has received full authorization to determine troop deployments along the contested border. Thai forces currently maintain control over several strategic positions including:

  • The ancient temple complexes of Preah Vihear, Ta Muen Thom, and Ta Kwai

  • The tactically significant Pha Makua hilltop near Preah Vihear Temple

Humanitarian Considerations

With over 100,000 Thai civilians still displaced, officials confirmed return timelines will be determined by the Border Situation Administrative Center based on security assessments. The government emphasized its “proportionate” defensive responses while reaffirming commitment to the ceasefire framework.
