Thai Air Force Conducts Precision Strikes on Cambodian Positions Near Ancient Temples
BANGKOK — The Royal Thai Air Force launched targeted airstrikes against Cambodian artillery and rocket positions today, escalating military operations amid a fourth day of intense border clashes. Fighter jets struck installations near the historic Ta Kwai and Ta Muen Thom temple ruins in Surin province, as tensions showed no signs of abating.

Surgical Air Operations
Two Gripen and two F-16 fighter jets carried out precision strikes on Cambodian rocket launchers and artillery emplacements, which Thai military officials said had been used to shell Thai territory. The operation, described as a defensive measure, successfully neutralized the targets before the aircraft returned safely to base. The ancient temple complexes, long a flashpoint in border disputes, have now become active conflict zones.

Warning Issued Over Long-Range Rockets
The Thai Army’s Second Region Command issued an alert to residents in several northeastern provinces, warning of potential strikes from Cambodia’s PHL-03 multiple rocket systems. Areas within range include districts in Ubon Ratchathani, Surin, Si Sa Ket, Buri Ram, Yasothon, Maha Sarakham, and Nakhon Ratchasima. Authorities urged civilians to stay informed through official channels but assured them that air defense systems were in place to intercept incoming rockets.
“While the threat exists, we have countermeasures ready,” said Colonel Richa Suksuvanon, deputy army spokesperson. “The public should remain vigilant but avoid panic.”

No End in Sight to Fighting
Despite calls for de-escalation, clashes continued along the border for a fourth consecutive day, with both sides exchanging artillery and small-arms fire. The conflict, which has already displaced tens of thousands and claimed numerous civilian and military lives, shows no immediate signs of resolution. Diplomatic efforts, including a recent UN Security Council meeting, have so far failed to broker a ceasefire.
