The detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED), hidden in a motorcycle sidecar parked against the wall of a defence volunteer office in Waeng district of the southern province of Narathiwat province, injured three volunteers and four civilians on Friday night.

Quoting eyewitnesses, police say that the two men riding the motorcycle and sidecar parked the vehicle next to the concrete wall and quickly left on a second motorcycle. About five minutes later, the sidecar exploded, causing extensive damage to the wall. Several other motorcycles parked nearby were also damaged.
