Thailand Faces Temperature Drops, Heavy Rain, and Rough Seas This Weekend

The Meteorological Department issued a weather forecast for January 17th–22nd, warning of significant weather changes. A new cold front from China will bring cooler temperatures to northern Thailand, while intensified monsoon winds are set to cause heavy rainfall and hazardous seas in the south.

Heavy Rain and Flood Warnings Issued for Southern Thailand

From January 17th–18th, a high-pressure system will lower temperatures by 2–5°C in the north. The northeast monsoon will strengthen, bringing heavy to very heavy rain to southern provinces. The Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea will see rough seas, with waves up to 3 meters, exceeding this height during storms.
