DDPM issues flood and landslide alert for 12 provinces

Authorities in 12 provinces across the country are bracing for possible heavy rain until August 20, that could trigger severe flooding and landslides, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) said.

Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation director-general Chayapol Thitisak said warnings were issue as result of present weather conditions and heavy rains according forecasts from the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD).

The 12 affected provinces are: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Tak, Nakhon Nayok, Trat, Ranong, Phang Nga, and Trang.
