A young female Belgian tourist has been found hanged and partially eaten by lizards on the Thai island of Koh Tao, in Surat Thani province. The young backpacker had been living in the neighbouring island of Koh Phangan as she was travelling around Asia for the last 18 months, local media reports.

The Belgian tourist was found dead by hanging on 27th April in Koh Tao Island, also known as “turtle island”, in the Gulf of Thailand. Initial police investigation pointed to “suicide.”

Koh Tao is a notorious island where seven other tourists have died in the last three years.
