SECURITY was tightened yesterday in Yala’s Betong district following the discovery of a note apparently referring to planned bomb attacks in deep South cities on the evening of December 28 and assaults on military bases and power poles on New Year’s Eve.
The note, written in Malay, was found on one of two suspected insurgents killed in Raman district on Friday and was sent for forensic and fingerprint tests. Betong police yesterday set up checkpoints to screen vehicles coming to the city as a precaution against attacks at economic centres, community areas or state offices.
