Phuket officials store 2700 tonnes of tuna seized from IUU fishing boats

PHUKET: More than 2.7 kilotonnes of seized tuna was removed yesterday (Sept 2) from illegal, unreported and unregistered (IUU) fishing boats moored at the Phuket Deep Sea Port at Ao Makham.

The operators of the IUU were arrested seven months ago and the company that owns the ships requested that the Department of Fisheries remove the tuna as it could not afford to store the cargo any longer.
