Several Buddhist temples or vihara in northern Sumatra of Indonesia were plundered and burned down by a Muslim mob following a dispute between an Indonesian of Chinese descent an administrator of a mosque over its microphone volumn, according to the Jakarta Post Online on Saturday.
North Sumatra police spokesperson Senior Commander Rina Sari Ginting said that the riot originated when a 41-year old of Chinese descent identified only as Meliana reprimanded an administrator of the Al Maksum mosque in Tanjung Balai, norther Sumatra, to lower its microphone volumn.
