Suthep Thaugsuban acquitted of defaming Thaksin

The Supreme Court today acquitted Suthep Thaugsuban of defamation charge brought against him by the fugitive ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra for addressing in the House of Representatives and giving press interview saying that Thaksin wanted to be a president.

Suthep, who was then deputy prime minister in charge of national security, told members of parliament during a meeting that Thaksin phoned in to address a gathering of the redshirts because he wanted to return to power as a president.
