BANGKOK, 28 August 2014 (NNT) – The Public Health Ministry of Thailand, reports that there were 31,866 rape cases last year, or 87 cases per day on average and about 60% of them involved university or school students. Alcohol use is considered to be a major contributing factor to sexual assault.

There has been a rise in sexual abuse cases worldwide, and in Thailand at least one person every 15 minutes is at risk of assault. NGOs and governmental sector personnel all around the world are striving to reduce the number globally. Vishanu Pandey, and Arun Pandey, undergraduate students at Assumption University Bangkok, had given major thought to this issue, and over time formed a team to develop a mobile application to help any individual in an emergency situation.
