Commerce says 10% VAT for 2015 would not affect the Thai economy

BANGKOK, 18 July 2014 (NNT) – The Commerce Ministry has expressed confidence that the hike of value-added-tax (VAT) to 10% scheduled for late 2015 will not affect the local economy.

Permanent-Secretary for Commerce Chutima Boonyaprapatsorn said today that the Thai economy would be strong enough to cope with the VAT hike set on October 2015. Ms. Chutima also believes that the consumers’ purchasing power will not be discouraged by the 10% VAT.
