PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, March 29 – Her Majesty Queen Sirikit has undergone a successful operation on Friday to treat a cataract in her left eye, according to the Royal Household Bureau.

The Bureau issued its 16th announcement on Friday concerning the HM the Queen’s conditions, saying that the team of physicians have conducted annual eye examination for Her Majesty and found the cataract in her left eye that affected her vision.

The royal physicians requested HM the Queen be moved from Klai Kangwon Palace in Prachuap Khiri Khan to Hua Hin Hospital on March 10 to prepare for the surgery.

After a general examination, HM the Queen was in good condition, with normal blood pressure and heart rate.

HM the Queen successfully underwent the surgery on Friday as royal physicians are satisfied with the operation. She returned to Klai Kangwon Palace at 1.40pm.

However, during her recovery the royal physicians have asked Her Majesty to refrain from royal duties for the time being.
