Appeal Court dismisses Suthep’s request to revoke arrest warrant

BANGKOK, March 4 – Thailand’s Appeal Court has dismissed a petition by anti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban, secretary-general of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), to drop his arrest warrant on insurrection charge.

Mr Suthep’s lawyer on Tuesday attended a hearing session following a petition asking the Appeal Court to overturn the lower court’s decision.

The Criminal Court had rejected a petition submitted late last year to review an arrest warrant issued for Mr Suthep.

The Appeal Court, however, decided not to revoke Mr Suthep’s arrest warrant, saying that the petition was redundant.
