300 Thais stranded in Japanese tourist city rescued

BANGKOK, Feb 19 – Nearly 300 Thai tourists were rescued from snow-struck Kawaguchiko city, about 100 km southwest of Tokyo, the Thai embassy in Japan reported.

In its report to the Thai Foreign Ministry in Bangkok, the embassy said all 299 Thais were safe after leaving the city in Yamanashi prefecture in smaller vehicles.
