Two Iranians convicted in Bangkok Valentine’s Day bombings

BANGKOK, Aug 22 – Thailand’s Criminal Court today convicted two Iranians for involvement in a bomb plot which led to explosions in three separate spots in a Bangkok residential neighbourhood on Valentine’s Day last year.

The pair joined three other Iranians in planning a bombing in a lane off Sukhumvit Road Soi 71 – Soi Pridi — on February 14 last year.

The court sentenced Saeid Moradi, 29, to life imprisonment, Mohammad Kharzei, 43, was sentenced to 15 years in jail and subject to a Bt2 million payment to the owner of the house which was damaged after a homemade bomb accidentally blew apart.
