Oil slick ‘sickens’ undersea coral off Phrao Bay on Samet Island

BANGKOK, Aug 9 – At least 70 per cent of corals in the seabed off Phrao Bay, Koh Samet Island, have turned pale and white from the oil slick, according to the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources.

Department director general Noppon Srisuk said the phenomenon was discovered during a survey on the impact of the oil spill from an offshore platform.
