Five drug traffickers killed in clash with soldiers in Chiang Rai

CHIANG RAI, May 4 — Five drug traffickers were killed in a shootout with soldiers at Chiang Rai’s Mae Fah Luang district early Saturday morning, according to the 3rd Army Pha Muang Task Force commander Somsak Nilbanjerdkul.

Maj Gen Somsak, Chiang Rai police chief Pol Maj Gen Wanchai Suwansirikhet and Director of Narcotics Control Office, Region 5 Wichai Chaimongkol jointly inspected the scene at a forest in Mae Salong Nok subdistrict, Mae Fah Luang district in Chiang Rai where a band of drug couriers clashed with rangers early Saturday morning.
