Foreigners own third of land in Thailand

Some 100 million rai of Thai land is owned by foreigners, mostly through their Thai spouses or nominees, Auditor-General Sriracha Charoenpanit revealed yesterday.

He said if this situation was “unsolved”, it could lead to later generations of Thais having no land to live on.

  1. Am I missing something here? Some 100 million rai of land is owned by THAI SPOUSES OR NOMINEES, not foreigners. The title of the article is totally misleading and would lead a Thai reader at casual glance, to assume their country is being stolen by foreigners. Nothing could be further from the truth.
