International Balloon Festival kicks off in Chiang Mai
CHIANG MAI, 21 January 2012 (NNT) – Chiang Mai Province launched the 2012 International Balloon Festival yesterday as part of the plan to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s 80th birthday anniversary and HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn’s 5th cycle birthday anniversary.
The event, which is taking place in San Sai District, brings together fancy balloons from 13 participating countries. Visitors will be able to see extraordinary-looking balloons from different nations, including the giant cake-shaped balloon from the US. They will also have a chance to take a balloon ride to enjoy a bird’s-eye view of San Sai District in the morning.
The International Balloon Festival runs until January 22. Apart from the International Balloon Festival, fair goers can visit the International Horticultural Exposition Royal Flora Ratchapruek in the central district of Chiang Mai which runs until March 14, 2012.
