Floods reached low-lying areas of Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi
BANGKOK, 13 October 2011 (NNT)-The Spokesperson of the DRG Center for Flood Victims, Mr. Wim Rungwattanajinda, revealed at the press conference this morning that the flood water had now inundated the low-lying areas of Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi provinces.
As for Bangkok, the situation in the nearby provinces is expected to increase the water levels in the Maha Sawat, Phasi Charoen, Phraya Banlue and Mahachai canals.
The Spokesperson of the DRG Center for Flood Victims said to solve this problem Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and a team would inspect 6 drainage systems around Bangkok from a helicopter and quickly dredge canals to accelerate the speed at which the runoff would reach the sea via the Tha Chin and Bang Pakong rivers.
Mr. Whim added that if the situation remained under control for the next ten days, the crisis would not be as bad as anticipated.
