Thaksin never ‘wanted’ by Interpol

Interpol has not revoked a “wanted” notice for former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra because it was never issued in the first place, Foreign Minister Surapong Towijakchaikul said on Monday.

Mr Surapong was commenting on a report that Interpol had withdrawn its international notice advising that Thaksin was sought for arrest by Thai authorities in connection with a two-year jail term handed down in the Ratchadapisek land case for abuse of authority while prime minister.

Thaksin had never been the subject of an Interpol “wanted” notice, he said.
