Thailand aims to set a new world record in Thai massage

BANGKOK, 6 August 2011 (NNT) – Thailand is set to hold the World’s record as the largest Thai spa and massage service center on 17 November 2011 at Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani. The purpose of this event is also to honor His Majesty on his 7th cycle birthday anniversary.

Ms. Wanwalee Tantikarn, President of Samui Spa Association and Thai Spa Association, said the spa massage with a touch of Thai styles is truly like no others. The technique incorporates traditional massage knowledge which differentiates itself from other types of massage.

The Ministry of Public Health, The Thai Spa Association, Spa owners and related agencies will jointly organize the World Record for Thai Massage at Impact Arena. A separate event will be held on Samui Island in Surat Thani province to promote Thai massage as well as other regions of the country.

According to the President of Thai Spa Association, the northern massage has adopted the Lanna style while in Ubon Ratchathani, which is in the Northeast is using a different approach called ‘Nuat-Khoei-Inter – massaging foreign in-laws’.

Meanwhile, on the largest island of Thailand, Phuket , a client must be in the sea where a massage therapist would massage the body with seaweed. On 25 August this year, the massage exhibition on Samui Island will take place on Chawaeng beach. The highlight of this event is the coconut oil which will be used during the massage.

It is said that the exhibition will further promote Thai traditional massage knowledge while it would be possible that Samui could become the island of Thai massage and that more coconuts would be used for this business.
