4,455 children orphaned by unrest in Thailand’s deep South

The unrest in Thailand’s deep South has orphaned 4,455 children and widowed up to 2,295 women during the past eight years.

The statistics have been compiled since 2004.

Pattani has seen the highest number of or 1,691 orphaned children. Coming second was Narathiwat with 1,586 orphans. Yala came third with 1,027 orphaned victims. There have also been 150 orphans of the unrest in Songkhla.
