Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo launches naming contest for hippo baby

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, 1 July 2011 (NNT) – Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo has kicked off a naming contest for its baby hippopotamus while encouraging children of 15 years old and under to submit their entries by 8 August.

Director of Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo Banyat Insuwan declared that on 14 June the zoo welcomed a male hippo calf, which was born to 14-year-old Father Krathong and 17-year-old Mother Ting. Therefore, the zoo has opened a contest for the naming of the baby, in which the winner will receive cash worth 3,000 THB while the second and third runners-up will get 2,000 THB and 1,000 THB, respectively. Ten other contestants with honorable mentions will be given a one-year free pass to the zoo.
